Well, it’s still snowing today.  We’ve probably got a foot and a half of snow on the ground now and it’s making travel around the city a bit messy.  As you may have noticed at the new title of the blog, we are now in waiting mode for a court date.  After our morning session with Gabriel, we were urged to go the notary to sign off on the freshly translated power of attorney letters.  The letters along with our other paperwork will hopefully be presented to court officials today so that we will get a court date.

We only had a morning session with Gabriel.  Apparently, the orphanage suffered a window malfunction while we were on our lunch break and we were informed that the afternoon session will be canceled until the window is repaired.  We may also miss tomorrow’s morning session as well unless the window is repaired.

Gabriel was in a good mood this morning.  He was full of energy and all smiles.  We gave him some banana and apple baby food.  The look on his face was priceless when he took his first bite of it.  We hope he won’t miss us too badly when we aren’t able to see him this afternoon.

I bet the change in words from bonding to waiting is bigger than merely changing the letters . . another hurdle down . . .

We may get some snow here tonight, but maybe 3-6 inches only.

I love that pic of him on the top row to the right – he has some look on his face – he seems to be a ham for the camera . . . hope you guys are well and staying warm.

uh oh, bad commenter alert! i missed commenting yesterday!! well, i was (not so) secretly laughing when i read that the weather thing on the blog was wrong and it is indeed bone chilling there right now. i wouldn’t want you to miss that part of the “winter in aktobe” experience! ;) and i was also (not so) secretly laughing when i read about gabe learning to grab the spoon, cry when he wants to be walked around, etc. it’s all over now. he has caught on to the enormous powers he holds over you!! camille was quite thrilled when she had that revelation as well. i loved the upside down pic of his face. sooooo precious!!!

i hope you are able to get a court date really soon. we actually had ours on the 14th day of bonding, so hopefully you won’t have to wait to long. i know the waiting is difficult.

ok…back to flipping the tv between american idol & celebrity apprentice! i have no shame!

Hi Gen, Joel and Gabe,

I got the link to your blog from Kami, and I’m so excited to follow the last leg of your journey. Gabe is ADORABLE!!! Congratulations on finding your son. What a sweet little boy.

We recently learned we would be going to Aqtobe too! We are with Little Miracles and are expected to arrive sometime in May. Thanks for sharing all the great information with other PAPs. It is so helpful to read through the experiences and helps make us more comfortable as well as more excited!

Take care,
Regina & Frank
