Waiting Day 02
022208

It’s finally stopped snowing!  So there is give or take 2 feet of snow on the ground.  The roads are still pretty messy.  In fact, the roads to the baby house are still covered in snow, so we had to take a different route in.  When we got to the baby house, Gabriel was so happy to see us.  I think he gave us a look that said, “where were you guys yesterday?!?” We made it up to him this with lots of dancing and a baby food snack.

During our lunch break, Gen and I ran to the market to pick up some food and Gabriel’s baby porridge.  We picked up a Kazakh hot dog, which basically is a hotdog wrapped in a croissant like bread and ground beef also wrapped in a similar way.  Both of these were excellent, and all for $2.25 U.S.

When we returned this afternoon and found a new member to our group at the orphanage.  A single mother from Belgium has just arrived and today was her first day of bonding with her new baby boy.  Gabriel was so excited to see us as he was brought in.  So I took him over to play on the piano for a bit and then he enjoyed some dancing time with Gen and our translator.  When it was time for us to leave, Gabriel hesitated to go with his caretaker.  He looked back at us with a sad face as he was brought back to his room.

Paka!

so who should we be crediting for the great photos? those ones in the first row where the light was hitting his face “just so” were perfect. you know, i took one pic of camille in the orphanage that i absolutely adored and i had it blown up and put on a canvas for around $50. it hangs in our stairway and everyone who sees it, loves it. i got it at winkflash.com. just an idea since you have all these great pics! :)

so i’m confused now about your waiting period. do these days that you wait for the court date count toward the 15 day wait period? or will you still have to do the 15 days wait period after court? ok, don’t feel obligated to explain it to me…just curious as your process seems different from ours!

it gets harder and harder to hand them over after the visits, doesnt it? :(

Okay, can I say that I love your blog/ website set up! I clicked on a photo and it quickly enlarged it, it is great! And of course your photography skills are stellar as always. Gabe is just too cute!

Please say hi to Karla and Ben, they should be there today or tomorrow! They have my gifts for the caregivers in Baby Room #3 too (plus 2 gifts for Aina). Could you please let me know that they get their gifts and if possible, if they like their gifts? I hated that I couldn’t give the gifts in person, it felt like I was leaving on a bad note with Z’s caregivers, so I really want for them to know that we love them and totally appreciate them as well!

Thanks,
Christy and Z

Thank you both for sharing your lives with us. Gabe is such an adorable baby. It seems like he was meant for you guys. If we had met as strangers for the first time, I would never have thought Gabe was adopted. Gabe could really pass on as your own.
I look forward to reading your blogs when i get the chance and seeing all those beautiful pictures. The pictures really do speak for themselves. It truly captures how in love you both are with Gabe.
I wish you both the best. Hopefully I’ll get to see all 3 of you when you get back. I’m sure that won’t be for a while since your house would probably be packed with relatives on a daily basis wanting to get a chance to bond with Gabe as well.
Until then, take care, get plenty of sleep, stay warm and God Bless….(..that’s the mother in me talking…)

Regards,
Rose :0)
